The Jane Austen Summer Program offers 30 contact hours for 3 CEU credits. The tuition for K-12 teachers and community college educators is $250 and generally covers all seminars, panels, lectures, and small group discussions, a tote bag, a rare book tour at UNC’s Wilson Library, one ticket to the Regency theatricals, and one ticket to the Regency Murder Mystery, as well as a daily warm buffet breakfast, elevenses and a welcome reception.

Scholarships available!

JASP’s teacher scholarships are open to all current middle school and high school teachers who want to learn more about incorporating Jane Austen, youth writing, and better practices in their curriculum. We encourage current teachers and teacher leaders in English, Social Studies, History, Drama, Theater, and other relevant disciplines to apply!  Spend your JASP conference gathering ideas on how to incorporate older texts, historic periods, inquiry, close reading, and experiential education into your curriculum.

Scholarships cover the full tuition fee and materials as well as a welcome luncheon for teacher scholars. You will have access to Teacher Talks such as “Youth Voice and Writing: Empowering Student Voice” and “Implementing Austen: Teen Writing with Teen Writers; completion of JASP bestows 3 CEUs for licensure renewal.

As a 2017 scholarship winner said, “I found the Jane Austen Summer Program to be one of the most inspirational events I have ever attended. It is an experience that has had a lasting positive impact on my practice as a teacher!”

The application deadline for 2023 scholarships has passed. Winner will be notified soon. Look out in the fall for information about 2024 scholarships.
