Jane Austen’s House in Chawton, England will be hosting their Emma festival from July 12-20. Fortunately for those of us outside of the UK some of the festival events will be virtual! Jane Austen's House has graciously allowed us to recap these virtual events for our readers. Whether you are unable to attend or just want a review of the lively discussions that are sure to take place check back on our blog!

1. Virtual Talk: Jane Austen On Holiday

Nothing says Regency summer holiday quite like a trip to the seaside. And with these sweltering temperatures this sounds like a relaxing excursion for us today! This virtual talk explores Jane Austen's love of the seaside including Dawlish, Worthing, Lyme Regis, and Brighton. Take a trip with Jane from the bathing machine to a coastal walk and a visit to the circulating library.
2. Virtual Tour: Jane Austen's Life and Legacy
Date and Time: Friday, July 18, 2025 8-9 PM GMT/3-4 PM EDT

Take a virtual tour of Jane Austen's home on the anniversary of her death. Attendees with discover how the House itself can help us understand her life and works better. No matter where you are in the world you'll have the opportunity to view objects in the House's collection that reveal Jane's life in Chawton and her incredible legacy.
3. Virtual Talk: Ugh! As If!: Celebrating Clueless
Date and Time: Sunday, July 20, 2025 8-9 PM GMT/3-4 PM EDT

Are you a Clueless fan? Debut author Veronica Litt discusses her book Ugh! As If!, an exploration of 1995's Emma adaptation Clueless. Litt explores the film's complexity and its deeper themes of inequity and femininity while staying true to the movie's lightness and optimism. Attendees will leave this talk with a deeper understanding of this 90s teen classics and the courage ''to be kind, do better, and find the activist within''.
