The Sense and Sensibility Vlog Series: The Theme of Sisterhood in the Novel

Updated: 12 hours ago

Welcome back to the Sense and Sensibility vlog series, dear readers! My co-hosts and I sincerely hope you enjoy this episode breaking down a few of our favorite moments in the novel emphasizing the importance of Elinor and Marianne's relationship as sisters. Highlights of the video include the fashionable addition of Sarah's (undoubtedly "cool and mysterious") sunglasses, the mental picture of Emma Thompson donning a pair of heavyweight boxing gloves, and tales from our own adventures in sisterhood.

If you missed last week's video on themes of movement and displacement in the novel, you can check it out here on JASP's YouTube channel. We'll see you again next Tuesday, June 3, for the final episode of JASP's Sense and Sensibility vlog series. Until then, happy viewing!

The Sense and Sensibility vlog series promotes JASP 2025: Sensibility and Domesticity, which will take place in New Bern, NC, on June 19-22. The Jane Austen Summer Program is designed to appeal to anyone with a passion for all things Jane Austen. Attendees include people from all walks of life, as well as established scholars, high school teachers, and students from middle school through graduate school. We can't wait to see you there!

JASP 2025 is partially supported by a grant from North Carolina Humanities.
